The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Infectious Disease at Rush University Medical Center, located in downtown Chicago, is seeking a Pediatric Infectious Diseases physician to join our full-time clinical faculty as Assistant or Associate Professor of Pediatric Infectious Disease and Medical Director of Pediatric Infection Control and Prevention.

Rush University Medical Center (RUMC) is a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution. The facility’s 57-bed Level III neonatal intensive care unit, featuring single rooms to promote privacy and safety, provides the highest level of collaborative care to its patients. The Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Rush treats children facing a wide range of infectious conditions. Rush Faculty Physicians also provide care to children with perinatal HIV exposure and perinatally-acquired HIV infection, as part of the Rush/Cook County Center for Research and Education in Infectious Diseases (CORE Center). This recruitment is part of a key strategic growth initiative within the Department of Pediatrics.

Qualified candidates must have completed an approved Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship program and be Board Certified/Board Eligible. Candidates will be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level, commensurate with their experience. Candidates should possess a strong commitment to clinical care, education, and research. The ideal candidate will be an actively involved clinical educator in the teaching program for medical students, Pediatrics, and combined Medicine-Pediatrics residents, and will provide medical leadership as Medical Director of Pediatric Infection Control and Prevention. The Medical Director will partner with the System Directors of Infection Prevention and Control on pandemic preparedness, the elimination of healthcare-associated infections, diagnostic stewardship, and enhancing prevention practices, safety, and quality throughout the system. Clinical responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient care at Rush and outpatient care at Stroger Cook County Hospital CORE Center, which is located one block away.
