Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Acute Care Surgeon. Candidates must be board certified/board eligible in General Surgery. Surgical Critical Care board certification/board eligibility is preferred.  The predominant criteria for appointment are: excellence in clinical care and a commitment to research, teaching, and institutional service.  Candidates should be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level or above. 

Surgeons in the Rush Department of Surgery’s Section of Acute Care Surgery & Surgical Critical Care (ACS&SCC) provide lifesaving medical and surgical care for critically ill patients. Patients with acute surgical diseases receive comprehensive care from ACS&SCC surgeons, including their evaluation in the emergency department, non-operative and operative management, and supportive care in the intensive care unit (ICU).  The ACS&SCC service also provides advanced acute and elective wound care for patients with acute and chronic wounds.
