The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hospital Medicine at Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites full-time or part-time applications for the position of Medical Director of the General Care Nursery.
Overview
The Medical Director will join our expanding Pediatric Hospital Medicine group which actively engages in medical education, quality improvement, research, and administration. This individual will be responsible for providing ongoing quality assurance and safety oversight of well newborn care at our institution, champion quality improvement activities, and collaborate with obstetrics, nursing, and neonatology to refine and implement best practices and evidence-based protocols.
Our Level 1 Nursery, which is staffed by both pediatric hospitalists and general pediatricians, serves over 2,200 newborns annually. The Medical Director will oversee and continuously strive for high-quality, safe, evidence-based, and family-centered care of well late preterm and full-term newborns. We are looking for applicants committed to providing exceptional inpatient care to a diverse and complex population of patients. This opportunity will involve extensive supervisory and teaching responsibilities in the nursery with our outstanding Pediatric Residency, combined Medicine/Pediatrics Residency and Rush Medical College programs.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be BC/BE in Pediatrics or Med/Peds.
Special consideration will be given to candidates who are BC/BE in Pediatric Hospital Medicine and have prior administrative experience.
