RUSH University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for RUSH Medical, Nursing and Health Sciences Colleges of RUSH University, invites nominations and applications for the position of Chairperson of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

The successful candidate will provide strategic, innovative, and operational leadership, and will have responsibility and accountability for the clinical and academic performance of all sections within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. A strong record of collaborative leadership and commitment to excellence in clinical, research and academic service is essential. Ongoing research achievement, community engagement and educational excellence are highly desirable. The successful candidate must also be committed to mentoring faculty, trainees, and medical students. In addition, they will have credentials that merit appointment as Associate Professor or Professor, will have an MD or equivalent degree; will be ABOG board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology. In addition, the successful candidate will possess a demonstrated commitment to innovation and will have the leadership skills necessary for guiding faculty development and advancement across research, clinical and academic missions. As a department leader, the Chairperson will provide an energetic and inventive vision for maintaining and growing clinical, educational and research programs; further highlighting sub-specialized clinical expertise; developing strategic interdisciplinary teams for furthering research, and continuing faculty development.

The Department has a long tradition of excellence and expertise in many clinical domains. The RUSH Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology currently consists of over 50 faculty including 38 employed faculty; 14 faculty that contribute services from their private practices; and 25 Advanced Practice Providers. The Department faculty specialize in General Obstetrics; Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery; Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery/Urogynecology; Gynecologic Oncology; Maternal Fetal Medicine; Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility and Complex Family Planning. The Department provides clinical services at RUSH University Medical Center; RUSH Oak Park Hospital, RUSH Copley Medical Center; RUSH South Loop; RUSH Lakeview; RUSH Lincoln Park; RUSH Oakbrook; and RUSH River North. The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is known for its comprehensive and exceptional medical care and they place a large emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion and strive to work towards an environment where our patients, providers, and staff grow and thrive. The Department has expertise in the care of pregnant women and babies who need specialized medical attention. The new, state-of-the-art RUSH Family Birth Center is a family-centered environment with advanced technologies. RUSH is a Baby-Friendly Hospital. This designation is from the accrediting body that certifies whether a hospital adheres to a rigorous series of evidence-based practices shown to increase breastfeeding. RUSH has also been designated a Level III perinatal facility through the Illinois Department of Public Health. The Department also has an Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Program that is fully accredited by the American Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME); and is a four-year training program which accommodates six residents per year and provides training to build a strong foundation in primary, subspecialty, and preventive care. Residents complete rotations in inpatient and outpatient settings at RUSH as well as at urban and suburban training sites. The exposure to diverse patient populations throughout the four-year program prepares residents for subspecialty training as well as academic and private practice. Additionally, in fiscal year 2022, the Department established an Inaugural Fellowship Program for Complex Family Planning that is a fully accredited two year program with two fellows. The Complex Family Planning Fellowship provides physicians with the opportunity to gain both clinical and research skills in all aspects of Family Planning.
