Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution, invites applications for the John W. Curtin, MD, Chair of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Surgery.  The Department has a long tradition of excellence and expertise in many clinical domains. With one of the busiest programs in the Midwest, surgeons at Rush University Medical Center offer a full range of surgical care with expertise in the most innovative surgical therapies. The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery has a national and international  reputation in craniofacial surgery, breast reconstruction, gender-affirming surgery, maxillofacial surgery, pediatric plastic surgery, and cosmetic surgery. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to clinical service, teaching and mentoring surgical trainees and medical students, research achievement and is a creative leader with a strong record of collaborative leadership and commitment to academic excellence and community engagement. The successful candidate will have an established reputation in plastic and reconstructive surgery and demonstrated experience in leading implementation of a vision through innovation and accountability.  In addition, they will have credentials that merit appointment as Professor, have an MD or equivalent degree, American Board certification in Plastic Surgery, possess a demonstrated commitment to innovation, and have the leadership skills necessary for guiding faculty development and advancement across research, clinical and academic missions.  As a division leader, the Chief will provide an energetic and inventive vision for growing clinical volume and improving clinical productivity.  The Chief will also work to facilitate collaborative work between a multidisciplinary group of physicians to grow and improve existing spheres of clinical care and develop new ones.
