The Department of Emergency Medicine at Rush University Medical Center seeks an Emergency Medicine residency trained, Board Certified/Eligible physician. Ideal candidates will join the team with an academic appointment and the opportunity for professional growth and nonclinical time.


The Department provides a competitive market base salary with an incentive bonus opportunity. Faculty members receive full benefits, CME reimbursement, malpractice insurance and a robust retirement package. A 1.0 cFTE physician works 1512 patient facing hours (178 shifts of 8.5 hours). The department currently staffs more than 90 hours of physician coverage and 20 hours of APP coverage per day in order to care for an average of 189 daily arrivals.


The Department sees 66,000 patients a year in its new state-of-the-art facility. Rush Emergency Medicine proudly serves one of the most diverse urban communities in the country. The team trains rotating residents from multiple specialties, medical students and PAs and recently launched a new residency program. It is academically affiliated with the Cook County Emergency Medicine Residency Program and sponsors the joint Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Fellowship and Simulation Laboratory Fellowship. The ED is supported by social workers, and a chaplain in addition to consultants representing all specialties in medicine and surgery who take 24 hour call for the ED.
