RUSH University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for RUSH Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of General Thoracic Surgeon.


The Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at RUSH, seeks a full-time General Thoracic Surgeon to join our faculty at RUSH Copley Medical Center, located in Aurora, Illinois. The ideal candidate will be ABTS-certified with a minimum of 3 years of experience in practice. Applicants must demonstrate a strong history of clinical productivity, practice growth, and proficiency in minimally-invasive approaches to both malignant and benign thoracic diseases. Exceptional inter-personal skills are required. The candidate will take an active role in program development at Rush Copley Medical Center and will hold an academic appointment within the RUSH Medical College. The applicant will have the opportunity to work with and teach RUSH medical students, general surgery residents, and cardiothoracic fellows.


The candidate will join a well-established, busy, and experienced team of 4 thoracic surgeons and 4 advanced practice providers, with an annual volume of over 1,200 cases. The on-call schedule is one in four, with no lung transplant responsibilities. The candidate will join a well-functioning multidisciplinary thoracic oncology team, including active interventional pulmonologists, gastroenterologists, and oncologists. There is an established referral network for the candidate upon starting that is continuing to expand. The successful applicant will benefit from a dynamic clinical environment and opportunities for early programmatic leadership.
