RUSH University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for RUSH Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Associate Director – Clinical Bridge & Transition to Residency.


The Transition to Residency course spans the entire M4 year and concludes with a 4-week Clinical Bridge Course. These required M4 year courses are integral in preparing medical students for their upcoming residency experiences. The Associate Director plays a pivotal role in steering course activities, which includes organizing content, recruiting faculty, developing makeup activities, and conducting literature reviews to refine the curriculum. The Associate Director will also facilitate coordination with role leaders and Course Directors. The use of simulation is a significant aspect of this course, requiring the Associate Director to have or develop expertise in simulation methodologies at Rush. 


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Collaborate closely with the Director of the Clinical Bridge Course and TTR Course Directors to plan and implement the course during its designated period in the M4 year, including other times as needed to fulfill graduation requirements. 
  • Develop and organize course content, ensuring it meets the educational objectives and prepares students for residency. 
  • Assist in planning activities as delegated by the Course Directors. 
  • Participate in teaching activities as assigned by the Course Directors. 
  • Conduct a thorough evaluation of the course, integrating student feedback to make necessary adjustments for future sessions. 
  • Engage in scholarly activities related to the transition to residency, contributing to the academic community's understanding and practices in this area. 


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must be a clinician in good standing at Rush University Medical Center. 
  • Require authorization from one's department chair or section chief. 
  • Additional qualifications as applicable.
