RUSH University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for RUSH Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Clinician Educator.


The Clinician Educator facilitates small group learning in the RMC pre-clerkship curriculum. CE’s prepare for a variety of sessions by reviewing the content given to students. During the session they guide students through session activities, facilitate discussion and ensure a suitable learning environment.  


The sessions include:  


  • Basic science 
  • Roles sessions 
  • Bedside clinical Skills 
  • Physical Exam  


Additionally, some CE’s are called upon to grade clinical skills assessments, design session activities or write and review assessment items.  


Responsibilities and Duties 


Complete 400 hours' worth of work in the pre-clerkship curriculum including:  

  • Facilitating sessions [clinician educators credited 2 x session length in order to prepare and deliver the materials]  
  • Complete narrative assessments on students [5 hours] 
  • Participate in Faculty Development [5 hours] 
  • Review personal evaluations and work on improvement of teaching [5 hours]  
  • Activity Design Work 
  • Assessment Writing and Review 
  • Grading Clinical Skills Assessments [80 hours (10 sessions)] 


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Clinician in good standing at Rush University Medical Center 
  • Authorization from one’s chair or section chief
